Dalia Nilufar and an eyewitness of Deshbandhu's final days in Darjeeling Mr. Contributors to this special Bangla Radio presentation are: Barrister Harunur Rashid, Mr. Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, who originated from Bikrampur, Bangladesh, will be remembered by the people for generations to come. He became a national hero after successfully defending Aurobindo Ghosh in the Alipore Bomb conspiracy case that hanged 'Khudiram'. He was a leading figure in Bengal during the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1919-1922, an advocate of communal harmony and Hindu-Muslim unity, an opponent of caste-discrimination and untouchability, and a believer in women's emancipation and widow re-marriage. This week's program presented a tribute to Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das - a great nationalist, renowned lawyer and visionary.
